Smyth said that according to the initial investigation, it appeared that the Pedestrian had parked her vehicle along the northern side of West Putnam Ave and begun to walk southbound attempting to cross the 4 lanes of traffic in order to get to a restaurant on the south side of West Putnam Ave. Further he said she was not walking within or near a crosswalk at the time of collision and was wearing dark colored clothing.
The driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on West Putnam Ave, and had just started forward after having stopped on West Putnam Ave and Greenwich Ave for a vehicle turning left down Greenwich Ave. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 25 miles per hour at the time of collision. The posted speed limit in the area is 30 MPH.
Smyth said the pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital for examination and treatment. This investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
