Missing Man Lasts Seen in Port Chester Recovered from Byram River

On Saturday, Port Chester Police shared news of a missing man, Jan Carlos Yepes Perafan, 22, of West Harrison, who was last seen exiting McShane’s Bar on North Main Street on Wednesday, Nov 23 around 3:45am. Police shared a photo that had been taken the night he went missing. The missing person alert received hundreds of shares on social media.

Then on Sunday afternoon, they followed up to say that with assistance from New Rochelle PD Dive team, and Rye PD, they had recovered a deceased male from the Byram River.

The deceased has been identified as missing person, Jan Yepes-Perafan 22 years of age.

Police said the investigation was ongoing, and that the medical examiner will determine the official cause of death. However, they said there appeared to be no sign of foul play.

Port Chester Police noted they were assisted in their three-day search by Westchester County Aviation, Real Time Crime Unit, NYS Police, Greenwich Police Dept, Port Chester Fire Dept, Port Chester EMS and Port Chester Dept of Public Works.

“We all worked tirelessly and made every effort to bring closure to the family in this case,” Port Chester Police said, adding, “We send our condolences to the family on this heartbreaking outcome.”
