Memorial Day DUI for Driver Who Crashed into a Tree on Hamilton Ave

Jose M Bonilla, 30, of 12 Old Mill Lane in Stamford was arrested for DUI and Failure to Drive Right on Monday, May 24 at about 5:00am. Greenwich Police were dispatched to the area of 10 Hamilton Ave on the report of a single car accident. Upon arrival, police determined that a ar traveling south on Hamilton Avenue had left the traveled portion of the roadway and struck a tree in the grassy median.

While speaking with Mr. Bonilla, officers noticed that his eyes were watery and bloodshot and the odor of alcohol type beverages was emanating from his breath and person.

Bonilla admitted to drinking before driving and agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety tests which he failed to perform to standard. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with DUI and failure to Drive Right. he was able to post the $250 bond and was released without incident. He has a court date of June 8 in Stamford Superior Court.
