Hit and Run Driver Charged after Crash on South Water Street

Greenwich Police responded in the overnight hours last Saturday to a crash on South Water Street in Byram.

Around 2:30am on July 23, police learned that a black BMW X5 had hit three parked cars, causing disabling damage to the BMW and two other vehicles.

The driver left the scene on foot before police arrived, but police determined the driver was Antonio Garciz-Alvarez, 35, of Mamaroneck, NY.

Garcia responded to police headquarters and admitted to having been driving at the time of the crash and leaving the scene.

He was arrested and charged with Evading Responsibility and Failure to drive in Proper Lane.

His bond was set at $1,000, which he was able to post. He has a date in court on Aug 8, 2022.
