Greenwich Police announce the retirement of Sergeant Sean O’Donnell, who served on the force from March 1994 until April 2023.
Sergeant Sean O’Donnell retires from Greenwich Police Dept after nearly 30 years of service.
Sergeant Sean O’Donnell’s last day of duty was April 1, 2023.
Sergeant O’Donnell graduated from Iona College, earning a bachelor’s degree. He was hired as a Greenwich Police officer in March 1994. Sergeant O’Donnell was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in November 2009. Sergeant O’Donnell was assigned to the Patrol Division and Marine Section for his career. He was also a long-serving member of the Greenwich Police Department Honor Guard. Sgt. O’Donnell has received several awards and citations for his actions during his service to the Town of Greenwich.
Sergeant O’Donnell also served as an Officer in the New York Army National Guard, Military Police Battalion. He has been deployed three times for military operations, once in Bosnia and two deployments to Iraq. During these deployments, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and numerous other commendations.
