Greenwich Police Nab Suspect in Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

On Thursday Aug 4 at about 3:24pm Greenwich Police received a report of a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 137 West Putnam Avenue.

A description of the suspect and her vehicle was broadcast to area officers. The suspect reportedly provided a note to the bank teller demanding money and stating that she had a weapon and the suspect left the scene with money stolen from the bank.

Within a few minutes the suspect vehicle was observed on East Putnam Avenue near Church Street, a short distance from the bank. Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the female operator. Witnesses to the robbery subsequently positively identified the operator as the suspected bank robber and she was placed under arrest.

Evidence of the crime was found in the suspect’s vehicle. There were no injuries during this incident.

The suspect has been identified as Meighan Marie McSherry, 46, of New York, NY. She was charged with Robbery 1st and Larceny 2nd  and was unable to meet her $250,000  bond. She was brought to Stamford Superior Court on August 5, 2016
