Greenwich Police Investigating Rash of Weekend ATM Thefts

In the early morning hours of Sunday February 11, at approximately 4:15am, suspects broke into the Gulf Station and attempted to take the ATM.  They then tampered with the machine to take the money out of it. While members of the Greenwich Police Dept were on scene processing this crime scene, approximately one hour later, the same suspects entered the Mobile Station located at 1129 East Putnam Ave, which was open for business.  While several customers and the shopkeeper were in the store, the suspects lifted the ATM, placed it in their vehicle, and fled the scene.

A broadcast for the vehicle the suspects were utilizing, a stolen BMW SUV, was sent to the surrounding area police departments.  Approximately one hour later multiple New York police departments attempted to stop this vehicle which engaged them in high-speed pursuits throughout New York and NYC. The suspects were able to evade capture.

It was learned that during the timeframe of the Greenwich ATM incidents, an ATM located at Dunkin’ Donuts (east-end) was also stolen.  After the Greenwich ATM thefts, the suspects went to Port Chester, NY where they stole another ATM.

At this time the suspects are currently still at large.

Greenwich Detectives are working closely with New York departments attempting to identify this ATM Theft group.  This group has been responsible for several other ATM thefts in the area.
