Greenwich Police Charge Man with Targeting “13-Year-Old Girl” by Computer

Greenwich Police announced that a detective from the Greenwich Police Special Victims Section worked undercover over several weeks, resulting in an arrest on Thursday.

Police say their detective purported himself to be a 13-year-old girl from Greenwich during online chats and was befriended by a Rocky Hill, CT, man later identified as Ray Luis Caceras, 38.

Over the course of the investigation, Caceres’ conversations with the person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl became sexually explicit.

Police say Caceres began describing sex acts that he wanted to perform on the “13-year-old girl” “in real life.”

The investigation culminated in Caceres making plans to meet with the girl in person at a specific location in Greenwich to carry out the sexual acts.

According to the Greenwich Police criminal information summary, on Feb 17, Caceres followed through with his plan and traveled to Greenwich. He was arrested without incident when he arrived at the pre-arranged location.

Caceres was charged with Criminal Attempt/Illegal Sexual Contact with a Victim under 16, Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault 2, and Criminal Attempt/Enticing a Minor by Computer.

Caceres was held on $750,000 bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 4, 2022.
