Greenwich Police Alert: Stranger Danger in Riverside

A 15-year-old female exchange student was followed and approached by an unknown male four times while she was walking. The interactions took place on the East side of Town; East Putnam Ave, Riverside Shopping Center, Sheephill Rd and Valley Rd.

According to Greenwich Police, the girl said that the male subject drove up to her and asked for her name and number. All four times she refused to give him any information and kept walking. The male subject left the area with out incident. The student did not feel overly threatened but found the attention strange. The student’s guardian contacted the police.

According to Greenwich Police, the girl described the subject as: White male in his 30s, balding with some black hair, medium build and wearing a tank top.

The vehicle is described as an older XC60 silver colored, and bearing a New York registration.

Investigators identified the registered owner of the car and investigators from the Harrison Police Department spoke to him. Greenwich Police continue to investigate.

Greenwich Police issued a flyer with this information and it was distributed to Greenwich Public school parents via email. Police suggest parents remind your children to never approach or get into a car with a stranger.
