Greenwich Police announced via a post on Facebook that in the month of January 2026, there were 7,225 school speed camera violations issued.
The speed cameras are located in school zones.
In December Chief Jim Heavey told the BOE that speeding around Eagle Hill School and North Street School had dropped 90%.
The FB post said the 7,225 violations were reviewed by the vendor, Blue Lines Solutions, and Greenwich Police Traffic Section before being mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle cited.
The post said there are still 9,537 pending violations for review that may increase the total number of violations for the month.
“We kindly remind all motorists to reduce their speed when traveling through school zones. Slowing down helps ensure the safety of students, pedestrians, and crossing guards. We appreciate your cooperation and support in enhancing public safety,” Police said.
The fee for the first violation is $50 and subsequent ones are $75.
Anyone noticing suspicious activity is asked to report it to the Greenwich Police Department immediately.
