Greenwich Housekeeper Charged with Stealing and Pawning Employer’s Jewelry

Grace Guzman, 35, of 93 Park Ave Apt 705 in Danbury was arrested on Jan 21 after turning herself in on an active arrest warrant for Larceny 1st degree and Making a False Statement 2nd degree in an incident on Valley Rd back on Oct. 19, 2015.

According to Greenwich Police, Guzman, who was privately employed as a house cleaner for a local family on Valley Rd, and who was given full access to the home and was often left alone and unsupervised, allegedly stole dozens of pieces of jewelry between Oct 2014 and Oct 2015.

According to Lt.Kraig Gray, the jewelry was valued at an amount well over $10,000, though several of the stolen pieces held not only monetary value, but were of significant sentimental value.

After stealing the items, Guzman allegedly pawned them in Danbury, some of which being sold for scrap metal.

Guzman was released on a bond of $35,000 and has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 29, 2016.
