Greenwich Driver Charged with Hit and Run with Injuries

On June 27 a local turned himself in at Greenwich Police headquarters on an outstanding warrant for Evading Responsibility/Physical Injury for an incident stemming back to May 31 in the CVS parking lot on West Putnam Ave

Police say Mateo Rios, 18, of Greenwich was the driver of a vehicle that rear ended a parked car and drove off.

The car that Rios struck had a single occupant inside who struck her head on the rearview mirror as a result o the collision.

Police learned the evading vehicle was a white Kia Sorrento with Connecticut plates associated with an address on the west side of town.

Police responded to the residence where they observed damage to the vehicle that coincided with the damage from the vehicle that was struck.

Police say Mr. Rios denied being involved in the crash but admitted driving in the CVS parking lot during the time frame of the crash.

He was able to post the required 10% of his $250 bond and was released. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 11, 2022.
