GPD: Extra Patrols to Focus on Grass Island after Window Smash Thefts from Cars

The Greenwich Police Department has assigned extra patrol to Grass Island following a string of window smash thefts from cars in the past few weeks.

On July 31 around 7:30pm on Grass Island a car window was smashed and a purse was stolen.

“We are asking residents not to leave valuables in plain view. If they need to be in the vehicle, lock the items in the trunk,” said GPD captain Mark Zuccerella.

Also, Zuccerella said a catalytic converter was stolen from a car on Palmer Hill Rd after midnight on July 31.

On Aug 1, Zuccerella noted that an unlocked Ford van was stolen from Pemberwick Rd shortly before 3:00am. It was later recovered on Windy Knolls Road, where items were then stolen from an unlocked car around 10:00pm on Aug 1. Both cases are being investigated.

“Hide it, lock it, or lose it,” Zuccerella said.
