GPD: 4 Stolen Cars Recovered; 4 Teens from the Bronx Arrested

Around 2:30am on Friday a Greenwich Police patrol officer spotted two males hiding behind a parked car on South Water Street in Byram.

Both subjects started to run away, but the officer was able to detain one of them.

Additional officers immediately responded to the area. Shortly thereafter, another officer spotted two males sitting inside a parked car on South Water Street that was determined to be stolen from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.

These two suspects abandoned the car and began to run away with officers in foot pursuit. An extensive search of the neighborhood began, and included the use of two police K9s.

Officers located two additional vehicles in the area that were identified as stolen. While conducting their search of the area, officers stopped a passing taxi and discovered one of the wanted suspects in the rear of the car.

A few hours later a Byram resident reported to Greenwich Police that their car alarm had been triggered by a smashed window. An officer responding to this report observed two males sitting in a parked car on Chestnut Street (off Delavan Ave) who resembled the suspects who had previously run away.

Upon being confronted by the officer these suspects fled. The car they fled from was determined to have been stolen from Pine Street in Byram.

A short time later, a caller advised Greenwich Police that there were two men running near Exit 2 of I-95. Officers responded and apprehended the last two suspects.

In the end, four suspects were arrested (one a juvenile) and four stolen cars (three from Greenwich) were recovered.
