Fake Driver’s Licenses and Bank Receipt Lead Greenwich Police to NY Suspect

On Aug 24 Greenwich Police went to the Oneida County Correctional Center to extradite a man wanted for bank fraud in Greenwich.

According to Greenwich Police Lt John Slusarz, the financial crime took place at Chase Bank on West Putnam Ave in Greenwich back on Feb 15, 2017 around 4:00pm.

The suspect, Derek C Slates, 54, of 137th Street in Bronx, NY, was picked up by police in New York.

Slates was in possession of a fraudulent driver’s license from another state, a fraudulent CT driver’s license and a receipt from a bank transaction in Greenwich.

Slusarz said police followed up with Chase Bank security who were able to conduct an audit.

The investigation led to identifying Mr. Slates who was charged with Larceny 5, Identity Theft and Forgery 2.

His was held on $25,000 bond.
