On Dec 24 Greenwich Police responded to the intersection of Milbank Ave and East Elm Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident.
Investigation determined that a driver, Bretton Martorell, 36 of Greenwich, had failed to maintain a proper lane and struck an Eversource utility pole.
During the course of their investigation, officers detected an odor of alcohol from the suspect who was showing signs of alcohol impairment.
Police say Ms Martorell admitted to having consumed two alcoholic beverages. She was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard.
She was charged with DUI, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane and Driving while using hand-held mobile telephone/mobile electronic device.
She was able to post the required 10% of her $250 bond and was released. She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 8, 2024.
