The crash took place around near exit 7. Police investigation showed Mr. Davidson lost control of his vehicle, a Honda Prelude, and veered into the right shoulder, then veered to the left, crossing all travel lanes and hitting the concrete jersey barrier in the median before coming to rest in the center lane facing north.

From there a Ford Transit collided head on with Davidson’s Honda.

Davidson did not report any injuries, but his passenger succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford Transit reported minor injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital.

Police said Davidson was disoriented and had watery bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and failure to maintain proper lane.

Subsequent chemical breath testing revealed his BAC was twice the legal limit.

He was unable to post his $250,000 bond and assigned an appearance in Bridgeport court on Monday.
