Cos Cob Motor Vehicle Stop Turns up Cocaine

Saturday April 4 at approximately at 1:15am, Greenwich Police on routine patrol in the area of 1800 East Putnam Ave in Cos Cob observed a westbound car operating erratically, with inconsistent speeds, and drifting between lanes. A motor vehicle stop was conducted.

Through further investigation it was determined that the operator, identified as William Gonzalez-Barrera of 118 Henry St in Stamford, displayed bloodshot eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. He did not perform standardized field sobriety tests to standard.

Gonzalez-Barrera was also found to be in possession of a white powdery substance which tested positive for cocaine. Gonzalez-Barrera was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence, Unlicensed Driver, Failure to illuminate rear marker plate and Failure to maintain lane.

Gonzalez-Barrera bond was set at $300, which he was able to post. His court date is April 7, 2015 in Stamford Superior Court.
