Bank Fraud Suspect Detained after Foot Chase on Greenwich Ave

On Tuesday around noon plainclothes Greenwich Police officers were alerted to suspicious activity at a bank in the area of Greenwich Avenue.

Patrol officers working the area were able to detain and positively identify the suspect, Ebony Kennedy, 39, of New York, NY.

According to Greenwich Police Lieutenant Lynden Latiak said Ms Kennedy attempted to flee from police officers. 

“Officers ultimately detained the subject after a short foot chase and she swiped at the arresting officer’s arms and knocked the camera off his vest, but there were no injuries to either party,” Latiak explained. “No weapons were involved.”

Police said Ms Kennedy presented a counterfeit New York Driver’s License with the victim’s name and personal identifiable information in an attempt to fraudulently open a business checking account in the victim’s name.

Ms Kennedy was arrested and charged with:

Criminal Impersonation
Forgery 2
Forgery 3
Interfering with Officer/Resisting Arrest

She was able to post the required 10% of her court ordered bond of $10,000 and was assigned a date of Sept 13, 2023 in Stamford Superior Court.
