Another Elderly Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Car in Greenwich

An 84 year old Greenwich resident was struck by a car on Hamilton Avenue on Friday evening.

The incident took place 6:25pm by the Two Door Restaurant.

Larry Kosterich was crossing the street at about 6:25pm when he was struck by a 1998 Toyota 4 Runner being driven by a Stamford resident.

The driver, a 24-year-old Stamford woman, stopped and remained on scene.

Mr. Kosterich died in the hospital over the weekend from complications related to his injuries.

This incident is under investigation by Greenwich Police Crash Reconstruction Team. Lt Slusarz said the pedestrian was crossing mid block.

Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Officer Roger Drenth at 203 622-8014 or contact the tip line at (203) 622-3333 or (800) 372-1176.

“Pedestrian and drivers have a responsibility to be cognizant of each other. These are 3 different collisions with different causes that occurred in different places,” said Lt Slusarz on Monday. “If you’re paying attention to your driving and driving the speed limit, and you’re crossing where you should be, in a crosswalk, pay attention, even if you are crossing when you’re supposed to. Eye contact is very important.”
