On Feb 22 around 2:00pm Greenwich Police officers attempting to deter motor vehicle thefts spotted a man behaving suspiciously in the area of Greenwich Ave.
In their arrest report police said the suspect’s behavior was consistent with that of a “scout,” often utilized in organized retail theft and motor vehicle theft situations.
The suspect was observed operating a vehicle with its registration suspended due to insufficient insurance. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop. On scene investigation revealed that the two passengers included the arrestee, Damon Gilmore, 31, 0f Brooklyn, NY, had come from New York to Greenwich to shop at several stores.
Police said Gilmore used two stolen credit cards to shop in two separate stores for a total larceny of $4,081.72.
Gilmore was charged with:
– Larceny 3
– Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3
– Illegal Use of Payment Card
– Conspiracy at Illegal Use of Payment Card
– ID Theft 3
– Conspiracy at ID Theft
– Theft of Payment Card
His bond was set at $8,900. He was able to post the required minimum 7% ($623) and was released from custody. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 3, 2025.
