On Monday, May 18, Alma Rutgers will receive the Barbara Nolan Award from Barbara’s House. Barbara’s House, formerly CCI, is a Greenwich social service agency providing local residents with a wide range of free services including after school programs, individual and group counseling, workforce development initiatives, special needs support groups, and citizenship prep. Justice Dept Sues New Haven Over Alleged “Sanctuary Policies; CT Officials Respond

The case, filed in the District of Connecticut, is the latest action from the Justice Department targeting what they say are illegal sanctuary policies across the country.
“It is our policy and the law of the state of Connecticut to respect and honor immigrant workers and families, and we welcome their contributions to our state. It is a shame that the President and the Department of Justice are not focused on public safety but are wasting federal resources on attacking Connecticut with a baseless lawsuit that has no foundation in law or fact. State Treasurer Erick Russell will join Selectwoman Rachel Khanna for a community conversation with Greenwich residents in the Greenwich Town Hall main meeting room at 4:00pm. The event will include a brief presentation followed by an open Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to hear directly from the Treasurer and ask questions about issues impacting Connecticut. Treasurer Russell will present a progress report on the important work of the State Treasury. He will report on the critical functions of this office, as well as the state’s overall fiscal position and pension funds.
