Every Election Counts: League of Women Voters Greenwich Announces Slate of Activities to “Get Out The Vote” for November’s Municipal Elections

Municipal Election Day in Greenwich is Tuesday, November 4th. This year, the League of Women Voters of Greenwich is pleased to announce a number of activities to support broad community participation in our town’s Municipal Elections. “This year our focus is on increasing the number of voters going to the polls for the municipal election, which has historically had low voter turnout,” said Cathy Steel, Vice President of Voter Services for League of Women Voters Greenwich. “Local elections determine how tax dollars are spent – every vote counts.”

LWVG Get out the Vote activities include:

• Postcard writing sessions at Coffee for Good to inform and remind registered voters about the election. Sessions take place Mondays 1 pm to 2:30 pm, Thursdays 3:30pm to 5:00pm, and Saturdays 9:30am to 11:00am from now until October 18. Continue Reading →

Glenville Volunteer Fire Company Open House Features Hands-on Demonstrations

Right on the heels of its annual David Theis Award, this year honoring Sue Moretti Bodson, the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company hosted an Open House on Sunday. Neighbors came to the firehouse to learn about safety while having a little fun and enjoying some apple cider and doughnuts. Abilis 20th Walk/Run at Tod’s Point: Good Fun, A Step Ahead of the Storm

Abilis marked a milestone on Sunday with its 20th annual Walk/Run at Tod’s Point. The strong nor’easter held off for both the 9:00am run and 11:00am walk. Highlights of the gathering were Theo and Melanie singing the National Anthem, activities including face painting and bracelet making, shopping at the Abilis Gardens & Gifts tent, a dance performance by The Dance Pointe, Billy Blanks Jr. leading the crowd in warm ups and a dance off where pizza parties were awarded to winning teams.
