Greenwich’s New Lebanon School Named 2026 CT Blue Ribbon School

New Lebanon School is one of 11 elementary schools in Greenwich enrolling 363 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. Nearly 60% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. New Lebanon’s overall accountability index earned in 2024-25 was 89.3, above the state target of 85 and their highest to date. The school’s performance has been improving steadily in recent years. Greenwich Assessor and BET Chair Explain Ins and Outs of Town Reval at LWV Forum

BET chair David Weisbrod said Districts 1, 2 and 8 increased at faster rates, with District 1 increasing  37.7%, District 2 increasing 30.6% and District 8 increasing 30.7%. Greenwich P&Z Mulls GCDS Proposal for Staff Housing and Expanded Daycare

The GCDS Schwarz Campus is 41.5 acres in the RA-1 zone and the school does not receive any FAR bonus for educational use. The Schwarz Campus at 23 Fairfield Road was originally part of the F.A.O. Schwarz estate, which goes all the way to Cardinal Road. Even if the school added the requested units, they would still have remaining FAR, but the discussion revolved around the proposed multi-family apartment building in the RA-1 single family zone. Republicans rallied behind Fazio after New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart suspended her campaign following news of her alleged misuse of a city issued p-card, and Betsy McCaughey dropped out of the race after failing to secure enough delegates to force a primary. Governor Lamont Signs Legislation Making Absentee Ballots an Option for All Voters in Connecticut Elections

The legislation increases the penalty for harassing election workers from a misdemeanor to a felony on a second offense, including publicizing an election worker’s name or address with intent to intimidate. It also makes tampering with an absentee ballot drop box a class D felony. Additionally, it restricts federal law enforcement officials from being within 250 of a polling place or other sensitive election site without permission from state election officials or court order.
