YMCA of Greenwich Unveils New State-Of-The-Art Scoreboard

The YMCA of Greenwich hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to unveil its new state-of-the-art 34’ scoreboard sponsored by Cheribundi, a leader in all-natural sports nutrition.

Cheribundi donated $130,000 to the YMCA of Greenwich to fund the scoreboard as part of their Fueling Future Champions initiative that empowers future generations of athletes to reduce inflammation, increase recovery, boost immunity and improve sleep.

Located in the YMCA of Greenwich’s world-class Olympic Pool natatorium, the new device fully integrates with the Omega Timing System, the official timekeeper of all Olympic Games events for more than 100 years.

The new scoreboard will display results and scores for the Y’s swim, water polo, and dive events in full-color LED display with a total of 631,800 LED pixels.

In addition, the device’s new content management system will have the capability to highlight YMCA programming, display real-time competition and meet information, and transform future aquatic events that utilize its entertainment features, such as family night and kids night out, into a movie theater experience.

“We are very grateful for the partnership with Cheribundi,” said Matthew Skaarup, Chief Executive Officer, YMCA of Greenwich in a release. “The new addition is an investment that adds value to all of our facility’s aquatics programs and events.”

In celebration of the event, Cheribundi invited Olympic swimmer, Summer Sanders, to speak at the Ribbon Cutting. Sanders was the most decorated U.S. swimmer in the 1992 Olympic Games held in Barcelona. She took home four medals: two golds for the 200-meter Butterfly and the 400-meter Medley Relay.

“I’m delighted to partner with Cheribundi to announce their Fueling Future Champions initiative at the YMCA of Greenwich to expand affordable opportunities for local athletes with a state-of-the-art upgrade to their swim center,” said Olympian Summer Sanders. “I passionately believe in the power of tart cherries to recover faster and rest better. Cheribundi is my family’s go-to product and this initiative to promote youth sports and empower young athletes alongside the YMCA will help future generations realize the power of all-natural recovery.”

All the YMCA of Greenwich aquatics team coaches also attended the event. It was followed
by a BBQ and pool party for the family members of the aquatics teams.
