Wings Arena, the new ice rink in Stamford near the Greenwich line, is officially open.
Once approvals were in place, construction moved along quickly, and by mid-April workers were busy spreading sand over cold pipes in preparation for layers of ice.
The facility held its first public open skating session on Sunday, July 21, and according to Wings CEO, Francois Magnant, 32 people attended based on a single Instagram post.

Magnant said the facility will also transform how athletes and active individuals train, recover, and perform.
Wings is introducing a unique collaboration between two leaders in performance and rehabilitation: EN Hockey and Matterhorn Fit.
Magnant said the facility will serve as a hub for total athletic development with on-site skill development, advanced rehabilitation, and next-level performance coaching.
“Our vision is to bring together top-tier resources under one roof and create an environment where athletes – and anyone committed to health and fitness – feel inspired to reach their full potential,” said Magnant said.
EN Hockey, one of the country’s most respected hockey schools, brings decades of experience training all levels of hockey players. From novice to NHL Players, EN Hockey implements proven techniques providing athletes the fundamentals necessary to improve their overall individual skills.
EN Hockey’s Stamford location will offer year-round programs for athletes focused on building a strong foundation for future success and game-ready confidence.

“Wings Arena is a launchpad,” Nates, founder of EN Hockey said. “It’s where players will come to level up every aspect of their game, from skating and stickhandling to decision-making and recovery. We’re proud to bring this vision to life in Stamford.”
Alongside EN Hockey is Matterhorn Fit, who will bring their revolutionary, neurologically-based rehab and performance model to Connecticut.
Founded in Florida, Matterhorn Fit has helped thousands, from NHL athletes to everyday adults, eliminate pain and perform at their peak.
The company also leads some of North America’s top hockey showcase events, creating unmatched development and exposure opportunities for players. Matterhorn Fit is set to open its doors at Wings Arena during the fall of 2025 and will be open to the public by private appointment.
Wings Arena’s partnership with Matterhorn Fit will serve its broader mission of helping people of all ages move better, feel stronger, and stay active for life.
Kenny Turano, who lives in Greenwich and has three young boys who play hockey, described Matterhorn Fit as an advanced neurological rehabilitation and personal training business.
“With the Matterhorn Fit method, we fix people in pain very quickly and get them back to living their active lives – everyone from 12 years old to 93,” Turano said. “We work with athletes of all ages.”
He explained that Matterhorn Fit helps with everything muscular-skeletal-related.
“It could be injuries, sports injuries, neuropathy – anything that is not structural. We look at the way the brain and the body are communicating – or not communicating – and figure out where the root cause of the issue is, fix it very quickly and then rebuild your foundation to get you back moving efficiently,” Turano said, adding someone might experience pain in their hip but it might actually originate from their lower back.
Turano said that the Matterhorn Fit team is comprised of athletic trainers, physical therapists and personal trainers whose efforts combine for a seamless process.
“Most people treat the pain,” said Ryan Vesce, CEO of Matterhorn Fit and former professional hockey player in a release. “We eliminate it at the source and restore true function. That’s what makes our method so different, and so effective.”
“We’re combining cutting-edge neuroscience with elite-level training to help people heal faster, move better, and perform at their peak – on or off the ice,” Vescue added. “We’re excited to expand our process to the Northeast and make a positive impact, as we have done across Florida.”
Wings Arena is located at 50 Barry Place in Stamford,
CT.
Their café is nearing completion and they are hiring staff.
