The GHS ski team was honored by the Board of Education for winning the state championship. “On March 5, we traveled with a exceptionally respectable 19-6 record to Mt. Southington to our state championship,” said ski coach coach Lindsey Pontieri.  “What the other 13 teams didn’t know was that we would engage in a sneak attack.”

Pontieri said that Ridgefield, Staples and Fairfield Prep were focused on each other. “That gave us a chance to sneak in and surprise everyone with a first place win for the team,” Pontieri said, adding that  junior Joe DeMuyt, who joined the team this year, came in first overall in the race.

This state championship is the first in the history of the GHS Ski Team.
