Veronica “Roni” Schmitz, 79, a lifelong Greenwich resident, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, after a brief illness. A devoted Catholic, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Schools and graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth.
A loving homemaker and caregiver, Roni was devoted to both family and community. She was active in St. Michael’s Parish, Malta House, and the Junior League, and served as president of the Greenwich Exchange for Women’s Work.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Schmitz, and is survived by her daughter, Alexandra Schmitz (Kurt), and her niece, Christine Labate (Philip), whom she raised as her own. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, John Toner and Mary Robinson (John), and by her many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Michael’s RC Church, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
