Richard “Richie” A. Coletti, 77

Richard (Richie) A. Coletti, 77, a longtime resident of Cos Cob, CT passed away peacefully February 29, 2024, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Richie, the loving son of the late Dino and Louise (Vitti) Coletti, was born June 5, 1946, in Port Chester, NY.

He is survived by his wife Terry (Bisanzo) Coletti of 38 years, and children; Richie (Gianna Harris), Valerie (Coletti) Sabato (Ted Sabato), Nick Coletti, Allison Coletti and grandchildren; Teddy Sabato Jr., Aaron Sabato, Gwenn Sabato, Gavin Coletti, Mia Coletti, Carly Coletti. He is also survived by his twin sister, Joan Corbett.

Richie graduated from Port Chester High School with the class of 1964, where he lettered in baseball and basketball. From 1966 to 1968, he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. Upon return, he began his career as a barber alongside his father at ‘Ridge Barber’ in Rye Brook, NY, then continued the business for another 52 years as ‘Ridge Barber Shop’ until he retired in 2020.

His love of sports was like no other. Richie will be undoubtedly remembered as a devoted coach, referee, umpire and beyond skilled baseball, softball, and basketball player. Not only was he an amazing father and grandfather but was a mentor to many on and off the court, field, and barber chair; dedicating his life to uplifting everyone he encountered. His ability to draw those in with a story and a smile paired with his compassion and generosity to all was infectious. His enthusiastic spirit will be felt and remembered leaving an infinite legacy on his family and friends.

A wake will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Castiglione’s Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road #3, Greenwich, CT 06830 from 4:00pm-8:00pm  followed by a Mass of Christian burial held Friday March 8, 2024, at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church (4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, CT 06878) at 10:00am.
