Jerry J. Wholey of Norwalk passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was 78.
Jerry was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much and was known to his grandchildren, fondly as ‘Baba’.
He was born in Bantry, County Cork, Ireland. He was the son of the late Jeremiah Wholey and Molly Koehane Wholey.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army.
His career began in 1960 at Morgan Manhattan Moving & Storage in New York City and became the owner of Doran Brothers Worldwide Moving, based in Greenwich, in 1980.
Mr. Wholey is survived by his wife Kathleen Enright Wholey, 3 children; son, Robert, daughter, Christine Brewster and her husband Matthew and their children, Carly and Gavin, son Jeffrey and his wife, Kim and their children, Dillon, Logan and Connor, a sister Kathleen Walsh and brother Cornelius Wholey, both of London, England, sisters, Mary Draper, Geraldine O’Sullivan, and brothers, John Wholey, James Wholey and Val Wholey, all of Ireland.
Jerry was a person of great honor and integrity. He was humble, kind and dignified, well remembered for his suit and tie.
His warm smile would instantly light up the room, putting people at ease and making them feel welcome.
Mr. Doran found great joy in sharing stories of his many adventures in life. The crew of Doran Brothers were like a second family to Jerry and he was like a father to many of them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church, 178 Greenwich Ave.
Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph’s Mausoulem in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
