After graduating from Greenwich High School, she attended the University of Connecticut, and then entered Greenwich Hospital Nursing School. She took great pride in her career as an operating room nurse at Greenwich Hospital.

Above all else, Evelyn was a loving, devoted mother to her children Scott and Michel Chard. She loved to cook for her children and was an avid gardener and seamstress.

Evelyn was particularly fond of strolling and shopping in the village of Old Greenwich. Her love of reading made Perrot Memorial Library one of her regular stops. Most of all Evelyn completely embraced the beauty of Tod’s Point, spending time there walking and taking in the natural beauty of Long Island Sound. A lover of fine art and music, she was interested in local artists and enjoyed a wide variety of music.

Evelyn was predeceased by Walter Chard, Helmuth Probstmeyer and son-in-law Ronald Carback. She is survived by her beloved children, Scott Chard (wife Jennifer) and Michel Chard, and her grandsons, Samuel and Benjamin Chard.
