Caroline Elvira Meskers, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on October 2 with her family by her side.
Caroline was born on March 18, 1931 to the late Hon. Judge Louis A. Pagnucco and his wife, Anna Gazzola. She attended Villa Maria Academy in the City of New York and completed her education at the College of New Rochelle.
Caroline married John Hugh Meskers in 1953 and they raised five children together.
She worked for Union Carbide and taught part time before beginning a career at PepsiCo from which she retired. She was widowed at the age of 61 and her strong Catholic faith and love of family guided her through that difficult time.
Caroline attended daily mass and sang in the parish choir for many years. Caroline was an avid reader, political news junkie, swimmer, and jewelry designer. She was always the life of the party. She had a passion for language, culture, and travel. She enjoyed travel and harbored a passion for archaeology. Her love of beaches drew her to Florida.
Her love of family brought her back to her last home at The Mews in Greenwich.
She is survived by her loving sister Angela Cinguina (Mike) her children: Michael, Mary Hesdorffer (Charles), Stephen (Monica), Christopher (Cecilia), and Louis (Natalie).
Caroline’s grandchildren Alex Plitsas (Lisa), Anna Singer (Matt) Patrick (Brenda), Christian, Victoria, Isabel, Lily, Myles, and great grandchildren, Isabella and Sophia Plitsas, and Maddie Meskers.
We mourn her loss and celebrate her kind and gentle spirit.
A visitation will be held on Friday October 11, 2024 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 31 Arch St. Greenwich, CT 06830. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 12, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church 4 Riverside Ave. Riverside, CT 06878 followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 10 W Stevens Ave Hawthorne, NY 10532.
