The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut has released a public service announcement alerting parents and caregivers about “sextortion,” a type of blackmail used by offenders to acquire sexual content online, and providing guidance to help protect children from being victimized by this crime.

To report cases of child exploitation, contact local police, the FBI, or Homeland Security Investigations, or submit a CyberTip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (“NCMEC”) at www.cybertipline.com.
