The former Honda dealership on Mason Street in Greenwich was demolished on Saturday.
An application was to redevelop the property as an affordable housing development under CT’s 8-30g affordable housing statute featuring multi-story buildings on both sides of Mason Street.
It was first submitted to the Greenwich Planning & Zoning commission in 2023.
The applicant was Mason Street Partners.
There were numerous iterations of the proposal, including one that was denied by P&Z in Sept 2024.
The final iteration was approved by the commission with conditions in December 2024.
Several properties on Mason Street make up the application, as well as 405 Greenwich Ave.

The development is an 8-30g, but not for rental apartments.
Instead they will be for sale.
Over the course of many meetings, the P&Z commission had concerns, including traffic and pedestrian safety, building height and mass, storm water drainage, remediation of the site.
Neighbors, especially on Ridge Street and Bruce Park Ave, were vocal skeptics during public hearings with concerns focused on pedestrian safety, property values, and possible loss of on-street parking in the neighborhood.
When the application was approved by the P&Z commission in December 2024, conditions related to comparability of the market rate units to the affordable ones, and requirements on proposed retail space, since 8-30g doesn’t talk about retail, only residential.
The favorable vote was 4-1 with Commissioner Nick Macri voting no. Voting yes were chair Margarita Alban, Dennis Yeskey, Arn Welles and Peter Lowe.
In December 2025, as part of $28.2 million to support the remediation and assessment of 16 blighted properties in Connecticut, Governor Lamont announced $8 million in grants to remediate the former Honda dealership through the CT Dept of Economic and Community Development’s Brownfield Remediation and Development Program.
A month later, in January 2025, Mason Street Partners initiated legal action against Greenwich P&Z over the conditions of approval.
The case is still active: “Mason Street partners, LLC v. Town of Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission.”
The case # HHD-CV25-6197979-S.
The case was moved from Stamford/Norwalk to Hartford, where a judge has yet to rule on lawsuit.
Still, there was nothing to stop the demolition.
The property is being marketed as Chilston Court and on Instagram, with hashtags, #GreenwichCT #NewEngland #LuxuryLiving #LuxuryDesign
