Rachel Khanna Endorsed by Connecticut Against Gun Violence

From the Rachel Khanna Campaign

Rachel Khanna, candidate for State Representative-149th District, on Thursday announced she has earned the endorsement of Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV), a statewide leader in working to reduce gun violence in Connecticut through education, grassroots engagement and legislative advocacy. CAGV grades candidates running for General Assembly in the state and endorses those who will be leaders in passing strong gun laws and have distinguished themselves as champions of gun violence prevention.

Khanna earned an A rating from CAGV. Her opponent, Kimberly Fiorello received an F rating, To further emphasize the stark difference between the candidates on public safety and gun violence prevention, Khanna received an F rating from the NRA while Fiorello received an A rating.

“As a longtime supporter of CAGV and an advocate for common sense gun safety laws, I am honored to receive CAGV’s endorsement for State Representative-149th District,” said Khanna. “Gun violence prevention is one of the top issues I hear from voters. They are concerned about their safety, and that of their children, and while Connecticut’s gun safety laws have made us one of the safest states in the country, as a result of a recent SCOTUS decision striking down states’ rights on gun regulation, our laws are now under attack. I promise to fight back against any attempt to weaken our laws, and work
tirelessly to keep our communities safe.”

In contrast, Kimberly Fiorello has repeatedly voted against common sense gun safety legislation, including:

● No on a red flag law that allows courts to temporarily remove guns from dangerous individuals;
● No on a commission to study and address gun violence in the state;
● No on “Jennifers’ Law” and other bills protecting women from domestic violence. Domestic violence is the #1 reported violent crime in Greenwich, according to data shared by Chief Heavey.

Khanna has also earned recognition as a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence.
