Local “Hands-Off” Protests Planned for Saturday in Response to Trump, DOGE Cuts

On Saturday, April 5, residents of Greenwich and Connecticut residents will gather in front of the Havemeyer Building, 290 Greenwich Avenue, at 9:45 as part of a mass nationwide mobilization, “Hands Off.”

Participants plan to call on President Donald Trump and Elon Musk to take their hands off the programs they say the middle class and working families rely on.

Indivisible Greenwich described Trump’s and Musk’s use of executive actions and orders as “authoritarian and unconstitutional threats to the country and individual freedoms,” and plan to demand that Congress use its power to hold them accountable.

“A commitment to nonviolent action is a core principle of all Hands Off,” organizers said in a media alert. “All hosts and participants are expected to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.”

Speakers include Rep. Jim Himes and State Attorney General Tong.

The event is Saturday, April 5 from 9:45 to 10:15, followed by a march on Greenwich Ave to the Greenwich Train Station.
