Greenwich Selectman Dave Theis, Longtime Cos Cob Resident Has Died

Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei issued a statement Tuesday night delivering the sad news that his friend and fellow Republican Selectman, Dave Theis died earlier in the day, Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Tesei’s statement described Theis as a Greenwich native who was involved in many facets of the community and whose contributions touched the lives of so many residents each and every day.

“Over the past five years we have been honored to serve on the Board of Selectman with Dave who brought integrity, wisdom, leadership and humor to every aspect of town government. There was no better partner to serve with and to call your friend,” Tesei said.

” It is a profoundly sad day felt deep well beyond our insular world of local politics. And I say that because Dave was a friend to so many. He was one of the good guys,” said selectman Drew Marzullo in a statement. “I truly believe Greenwich is a better place because of Dave Theis.”

“I will miss him greatly. It has been an honor of a lifetime serving along side this kind, loving and happy gentleman. To Kerrin, Ginny and Nancy, all of Greenwich mourns with you.” – Greenwich Selectman, Drew Marzullo

Theis was a constant presence at fundraisers and charity events in town. He was as comfortable helping out at Adopt-A-Dog events as he was modeling Vineyard Vines apparel on the red carpet during Fashion’s Night Out.

Theis leaves behind his partner of many years Kerrin Coyle and his sisters Ginny and Nancy.

The First Selectman issued an order that flags at all Town buildings be flown at half-staff until such time as Selectman Theis is laid to rest.
