Municipal Election Day in Greenwich is Tuesday, November 4th. This year, the League of Women Voters of Greenwich is pleased to announce a number of activities to support broad community participation in our town’s Municipal Elections.
“This year our focus is on increasing the number of voters going to the polls for the municipal election, which has historically had low voter turnout,” said Cathy Steel, Vice President of Voter Services for League of Women Voters Greenwich. “Local elections determine how tax dollars are spent – every vote counts.”
LWVG Get out the Vote activities include:
• Postcard writing sessions at Coffee for Good to inform and remind registered voters about the election. Sessions take place Mondays 1 pm to 2:30 pm, Thursdays 3:30pm to 5:00pm, and Saturdays 9:30am to 11:00am from now until October 18.
• Attendance at the 19 Greenwich Public School Open Houses including elementary, middle and high schools, to help residents get ready to vote in November and provide information on the “who, what, when where and why” of local elections.
• Presence at community organization events including YWCA Greenwich, YMCA of Greenwich, Neighbor to Neighbor and Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich, to
distribute election information, including information about early voting, absentee ballots, and voter registration.
• Social media and email campaigns providing detailed election and candidate information to over 20,000 Greenwich residents.
• Publication of Voter’s Guides with election information and candidate profiles for both town-wide and district-by-district RTM candidates The Municipal Election Voter’s Guide, with Q&A responses from candidates for eight town-wide offices, currently is available online at LWVGreenwich.org. The RTM Voter’s Guide will be published in mid-October prior to the start of Early Voting.
