The first effects from the storm are expected to arrive in Greenwich on Sunday around 4:00am, with wind and rain steadily increasing throughout the day.
Henri is expected to make landfall near New Haven around 8:00pm Sunday with sustained winds of 65 miles per hour and gusts up to 80 miles per hour.
We are expecting moderate to major coastal and river area flooding. The storm is expected to depart our area Monday morning.
This may be a dangerous storm which may also strengthen as it gets closer.
Significant tree and power line damage may be expected. Preparations should be made now for power outages, including alternatives for medical necessities. Loose items located outside should be moved indoors or secured to fixed objects.
Town of Greenwich Public Safety crews will be on standby throughout the storm. The lobby of the Public Safety Complex will be open as a charging and cooling station if needed. Public Works and Parks crews will be working their best to keep our roads open. I would ask our community members to remain off the roads from Sunday afternoon through at least Monday morning as travel may be hazardous and to give our emergency crews safe access.
This storm will be impactful to our entire community for at least the next couple of days. Please stay tuned to local news and weather reports for updates on the storm and changes to warnings.
