The Lash Spot Greenwich, a new business in Banksville, is set to hold their grand opening this Saturday, Aug 10.
Founded by Ashley Jimenez, the business is located at 1066 North Street, across from the shopping center that features Happiness Is.
The open house starts at 2:00pm, and any appointments booked that day of will receive 15% off services.
There will be a raffle – tickets cost $10 each and all proceeds will go to the Leaping Bunny, an organization that certifies companies with animal-friendly products.
The event will feature drinks, raffles, a ribbon cutting, music entertainment and catering from Raphael’s Bakery and the raffle to support the Leaping Bunny program.
Recently, the Greenwich Planning & Zoning commission noted that the newest trend is for “hands-on” service business to populate commercial spaces, given brick and mortar retail businesses have struggled compete with online shopping.
Ms Jimenez is passionate about the services her business will provide: lashes and eyebrows.
Jimenez, who grew up nearby in Ridgefield, and lives in downtown Stamford, said The Lash Spot is the culmination of her dreams.
“I love Greenwich. I shop here all the time, eat dinner here with friends and celebrate their milestones,” she said, adding she was delighted to find the space next to Anna’s Nail Spa available.
She said her interest in eyelashes started with having her own eyelashes done 8 years earlier.
“I started to do research, got my certification and license to do eyelashes,” she said. “Lash artists – that’s what we are.”
Her business will specialize in application of individual eyelashes, as opposed to clusters. The process typically takes two hours and the lashes last 4-6 weeks.
She will also offer lash lifts, which curl eyelashes from base to tip and last 6-8 weeks, as well as tints and eyebrow lamination.
Jimenez said her salon will have a variety of shades for the eyelash tints.
“With the tints, it will look like you put mascara on, but without the chunkiness,” she explained.
“Eyelash lifts are ideal for women whose lashes are fading away or they’re not happy with how they’re sitting on their eye,” Jimenez said. “It’s almost as though you’re curling your eyelashes.”
Jimenez, an animal lover, uses only vegan products.
“We’re a vegan, luxury eyelash salon,” she said, adding that she is certified for eyelashes in a business that is constantly evolving.
“Some women get mink lashes,” Jimenez said. “That’s fur. It’s terrible.”
Next door is Anna’s Nail Spa at 1068 North St, certain to cross-pollinate customers. In fact, during our interview people were knocking on Jimenez’s door to ask about the opening date.
“The nail salon has been in business next door for 14 years. They do amazing work,” Jimenez said. “They’re so busy all the time.”
“Lashes really give people a boost,” Jimenez said. “It really is the cherry on top of your natural beauty. I gives that extra oomph!”
