RH Estates Set to Open on Greenwich Ave in Spring 2026 at former Ralph Lauren Building

RH is expanding on Greenwich Avenue again.

Originally known as Restoration Hardware, the business operated for several years at 239 Greenwich Ave, home today to Betteridge Jewelers.

From there RH moved to their 23,000-square-foot flagship gallery, RH Greenwich/The Gallery at the Historic Post Office, in the repurposed building at 310 Greenwich Ave.

They also operate RH Outdoor at 264 Greenwich Ave, focusing on outdoor collections, including furniture, lighting, and rugs.

Today, plans are in the works for RH Estates to open this spring in the Beaux Arts limestone building at 265 Greenwich Ave that was formerly home to Ralph Lauren.

Ralph Lauren occupied the building from 2009 to 2017, when it shuttered as part of a nationwide restructuring.

In 2021 SaksWorks opened at 265 Greenwich Ave, operating as a club with co-working space where people could buy a day pass, or subscribe to an annual or monthly membership. Members could receive wellness treatments on site, take mid-afternoon meetings in personal phone and conference rooms.

In August 2021, Greenwich’s Planning & Zoning commission updated town regs to allow restaurants to operate on second floors of two story buildings in the CGBR zone with the condition that they be serviced by one kitchen.

SaksWorks included an on-site contemporary American restaurant, Ruby & Bella’s.

Both SaksWorks and Ruby & Bella’s closed in 2023.

Today there is signage announcing the spring opening and a QR code that links to employment opportunities at careers.RH.com.

Greenwich Chamber of Commerce executive director, Andrea Blume said in an email on Monday, “I think the new Restoration Hardware development is a positive addition to Greenwich Avenue.”

“We’ve seen a few businesses come and go in that location, so it’s encouraging to see this historic building given a new life. The project also creates a strong visual and commercial connection between the Putnam Avenue design district and the lower end of the Avenue, helping to strengthen the overall flow and vitality of the area.”

The future RH building is next door to the former Fred D. Knapp Funeral Home at 267 Greenwich Ave, which is undergoing a major transformation to restore its 1906 appearance, removing later Gothic features for a new retail, office and residential layout.

Approved in 2025, the project includes retail space on the ground floor/basement and residential units upstairs. The Knapp Funeral Home now operates out of shared space on Hamilton Avenue.
