This week the Delamar Hotel announced that L’escale restaurant will remain at Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel.
The restaurant will close for up to three months beginning in January for a refresh of its dining room, bar, outdoor terrace and banquet facilities, and is scheduled to reopen in spring 2023.
A note on the hotel website says that starting January 1, when the restaurant closes, complimentary continental breakfast will be provided for guests from 7:00am-10:00am each morning.
According to a release from the hotel chain, following the announcement last summer that the popular French restaurant L’escale would close its doors on Nov 30 after 20 years in business, the restaurant and Greenwich Hospitality Group will operate the restaurant at the hotel under a new licensing agreement.
Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer, General Manager David Fletcher and members of the staff will stay in place.
Last summer the plan was not to renew L’escale’s lease. Greenwich Hospitality Group founder and CEO Charles Mallory planned to refresh the restaurant and hold onto Chef Kieffer in a new restaurant at the hotel.
Restaurant lessee, Rick Wahlstedt, who is also the founder and owner said in the release, “We have had an overwhelming response to L’escale’s planned closing from our fantastic clients who made their voices heard. Seeing L’escale continue what it has been doing at the Delamar for the foreseeable future is a very good thing. I am confident that the restaurant is in good hands and will continue to flourish.”
Mr. said that back in 199 his old friend, restaurateur Jean Denoyer came to him with the concept of an elegant waterfront restaurant evocative of what one would find on the French Riviera.
“His idea led to what became L’escale,” Mallory said. “L’escale is and always has been an exemplary culinary destination, and it will continue to delight guests and welcome private events for years to come.”
L’escale is located at 500 Steamboat Road in Greenwich.
