Greenwich Post, a Hersam Acorn newspaper emailed subscribers Monday morning with a notification that they will no longer publish a printed edition. The last paper edition delivered to mailboxes two weeks ago contained a notice that the paper would be taking a break until Jan. 8th, but the announcement took staff by surprise on Monday morning.

Hersam Acorn also runs the Fairfield Sun and Valley Gazette (covering Derby, Ansonia and Seymour) which are both set to close according to the website.

According to the website, the company publishes 21 weekly publications in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont and lists its weekly papers as:

  • Darien Times
  • Easton Courier
  • Fairfield Sun
  • Greenwich Post
  • Lewisboro Ledger
  • Milford Mirror
  • Monroe Courier
  • NC Advertiser
  • Redding Pilot
  • Ridgefield Press
  • Shelton Herald
  • Stratford Star
  • Trumbull Times
  • Valley Gazette
  • Weston Forum
  • Wilton Bulletin

Details to Greenwich Post subscribers regarding the closing were brief:

“We will no longer be publishing a printed edition of the The Greenwich Post.

This was a difficult decision, but despite having an extremely talented and dedicated staff there was not adequate advertising to support continued publication. We will continue publishing on greenwich-post.com. Thank you for your support and involvement with the The Post and we look forward to continuing to serve you on greenwich-post.com.”

Greenwich Free Press will publish more details as they become available.
