First Selectman Honors Freccia Brothers Garage on 100 Years of Service in Greenwich

On Thursday, First Selectman Fred Camillo delivered a proclamation to Freccia Bros Garage on West Putnam Ave, to congratulate the owners on 100 years of service in the town of Greenwich and present a proclamation. The business got started back in 1922 repairing and painting horse carriages.

The family run business has evolved with the times and through five generations.

Camillo noted that every holiday season the Freccias collect hundreds of toys for children in need, and people look forward to seeing the garage decorated with greens, bows and lights.

The First Selectman said Frank Freccia III and David D’Andrea Jr are known as the best air-cooled mechanics, and have vowed to keep vintage Volkswagens on the road for years to come.

He noted that even people who don’t own a vintage Volkswagen, stop in to share their Volkswagen stories.

Frank’s great grandfather Guiseppi started the business. His sons Gene and Frank continued the operation, followed by Frank’s father Skip.

“And now me, and Guin and Dave, and the rest of the bunch,” he added.
