Garden Catering Gears Up for One of Its Busiest Days of the Year: Super Bowl Sunday

Garden Catering is gearing up for one of the busiest days of the year: Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 4, when the family owned chicken nugget chain will bustle with pick up, delivery and catering orders.

The day usually ranks as the third busiest of the year for mini-chain, who have seven locations between Mamaroneck NY, and Fairfield, CT.

“It’s a last minute catering holiday for sure. Many people are placing large orders the same day, leading right up to kickoff,” said Frank Carpenteri Jr., owner of Garden Catering. “Usually things really ramp up at noon and continue throughout the day.”

Offering delivery through UberEats has added to the orders that each store receives.

“We’ve certainly seen an uptick in delivery orders through our partnership with UberEats,” said Carpenteri. If someone wants a few Specials, or a smaller order off our walk in menu, they can now do that with three clicks on their phone.” Garden Catering ranks among the top three UberEats restaurants in Connecticut, which boasts hundreds of restaurants throughout the state.

The local nugget chain is planning on going a ton of chicken this coming weekend, literally.

“We are budgeting to purchase over 3,000 pounds of chicken, which we will hand cut and cook throughout the weekend,” Carpenteri said. “We’ll also go through over 2,000 pounds of fries, 1,000 pounds of potato cones and roughly 50 gallons of honey mustard.”

Aside from their hand-cut nuggets, fries and cones, Garden Catering also offers more traditional Super Bowl favorites. “Although I love to sell what we do absolutely better than anyone, hand-cut chicken nuggets, we do prepare quite a bit of buffalo wings, 3 foot wedges and sandwich platters. We like to remind people that we can prepare our nuggets buffalo or honey-hot style.”

Other popular choices for the big game include pigs in a blanket, mac & cheese  bites, cheeseburger sliders, sausage & peppers and some specialty pasta dishes.

Carpenteri likens the day to two other popular days throughout the year.

“Three days – July 4th, the day before Thanksgiving, and Super Bowl Sunday, are typically our busiest days of the year,” he said. “They are all somewhat similar – lots of smaller catering orders picked up throughout the day, so we need to have everything prepped and be on our A-game. We have legions of loyal fans, and it is important to me and my staff that we take care of them. All they should have to worry about is sitting back and enjoying the game”
