Letter to the editor,
I would like to submit my comments and proposal to the discussion about where the statue of former President George HW Bush should be located.
We should locate the statue/monument of President Bush – as well as other people who have ties to Greenwich who have made a great impact on the nation – on Greenwich Avenue.

Sculpture of “the commuter” outside Cavalier Ebanks at 175 Greenwich Avenue.
I am not sure where the Havemeyers stood politically, but I feel they would have wanted the public school ground and the Board of Education to be apolitical, in their work and what they provided to the public.
Just think of walking the Avenue and ‘here and there’ you will find a statue of people – they would not be pulled back from our ‘main street’ and hidden behind trees or required to have flood lights – they would just be standing there on the sidewalk – people who started out just like the rest of us, but made something remarkable out of their lives and made Greenwich proud by calling it their home.
These statues could be no larger than life size and similar to the Historic District Commission, be decided on by a bipartisan group that would not lean to favor the person and their accomplishments based on political affiliations.
Regards
David C. Wold
