WICHMAN: Erickson and Stone McGuigan Understand the Importance of Long-Term Capital Planning

Submitted by Anne Wichman, Riverside

We Greenwich residents are so fortunate to have such wise and experienced candidates as Laura Erickson and Janet Stone McGuigan running to lead our town government.

These are two of the most intelligent and open-minded people I know, and each has a deep understanding of the workings of our town.

As a long-time Greenwich resident, I have watched with increasing dismay, as so many of our policies have become partisan issues. Both Laura and Janet will be able to bring honesty and rationality to our government. They understand the issues–the importance of long-term capital planning, the need to renovate and rebuild decaying schools and facilities before structural problems occur, such as the disasters at Old Greenwich and Central Middle School.

They value our police department, our first responders, and the need for affordable housing for our public servants, as well as the need for safety measures at our school crossings. Above all, they have the ability to bring civility back to our public discourse.

Laura, with her experience as PTA President, RTM Representative, and a respected member of the Board of Education and the Board of Estimate and Taxation, understands the process involved in bringing positive changes to our town. Janet, who has degrees in Civil Engineering and Economics, as well as a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, is in her fourth year as Greenwich Selectperson.

I urge you to vote for Laura Erickson and Janet Stone McGuigan on November 7. They will lead our town intelligently, responsibly, and capably. We will be in good hands.
