Hector’s total commitment to Greenwich and his positive can-do attitude make him perfectly suited to represent the 151st district in Hartford, which is why I am supporting Hector Arzeno for State Representative.
I work closely with Hector on the RTM and know he has an extensive record of public service, as delegate to the Finance Committee as well as alternate to Claims and Labor Contracts Committees. Any job that has needed doing, Hector always answers the call. He also volunteers at Greenwich High School, giving tours to incoming students and parents. Hector is also an active board member of the Community Centers Inc., an organization that provides our residents with resources to achieve their full potential. What distinguishes Hector in all that he does is that he consistently listens to and works collaboratively with others. He has a natural ability to engage with people which lends itself to productive discourse and inclusive outcomes. This has been evident in how Hector is widely liked and respected among Town leaders, the BET, BoE and his colleagues on the RTM.
While the chasm between Republicans and Democrats in Hartford has at times seemed unbridgeable, Hector will rise to reverse that course. As a moderate, he has an established record of fiscal responsibility and understands that our state legislature can deliver better results for Greenwich. He supports the authority of our local zoning officials so that municipalities can provide affordable housing in ways that work for each individual community, and is a passionate advocate for securing CT as a leader in gun safety by closing legislative loopholes.
Hector received the endorsement from NARAL and Planned Parenthood in 2020, signaling then and now his commitment to defending women’s reproductive rights. These rights have been put in immediate jeopardy with the overturning of Roe. This means we must elect candidates that are clear and direct in affirming support for access to abortion. Unfortunately, the loss of rights across the Nation and Connecticut’s Republican votes in 2022 overwhelmingly against expanding access and legal protections for abortion, signal that the rights and freedom we hold today are not guaranteed unless we elect moderate candidates like Hector!
Our state government needs thoughtful and pragmatic leaders who understand and are invested in the wellbeing of our community as they consider every vote and foster positive working relationships with their colleagues irrespective of party to act for their constituents. Hector Arzeno will do just that. I urge voters to get to know Hector as he knocks on doors in the 151st district. This November cast your vote for Hector Arzeno. You’ll be glad you did!
