LEVINE: Erickson’s Resumé of Public Service is Truly Inspiring

Submitted by Andrea Levine

This election season the Town of Greenwich has a fantastic opportunity to elect a First Selectperson and Selectperson who will plan for the future of Greenwich – Laura Erickson and Janet Stone McGuigan.

The depth and breadth Laura Erickson’s resumé of public service is truly inspiring. She is currently in her second term on the Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) and as a member of the BET Budget Committee. She is a past chair of the Board of Education and served on the the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) for over a decade on both the Finance and Health & Human Services Committees.

Janet, the current Selectperson, has vast experience in our Town government, including the critical areas of sustainability, climate control and education.   She is the co-chair of the Greenwich Sustainability Committee and Board of Selectmen liaison to the Energy Management Advisory Committee, the Harbor Management Commission and the Old Greenwich School and Julian Curtis School Building Committees.

Laura and Janet are committed to meeting the challenges facing our Town head-on. They will create realistic and responsible plans to fund infrastructure repairs so students and staff attend schools that are safe and ADA-compliant, repair and replace fire trucks and other pieces of  necessary emergency equipment, address the lack of affordable housing in Town to keep local zoning control and  combat the effects of climate change.

Let’s begin in a new era in Greenwich by electing these excellent candidates for the leadership of our Town – Laura Erickson  for First Selectperson  and Janet Stone McGuigan for Selectperson.
