LETTER: Re-Elect Richman Tax Collector; He has Recovered $4million+ Delinquent Taxes

Letter to the editor from Laura Kostin

I had the pleasure of accompanying Howard Richman, our current Tax Collector, as he spoke with voters recently.

He talked at length with one couple who noted that they have lived in town for more than 40 years— and no candidate for Tax Collector had ever bothered
to introduce themselves.

They were so grateful that Howard did.

Howard is fortunate to be running on an amazing track record. The highlight of his record is that he has recovered more than $4 million in delinquent taxes, which directly benefits Greenwich residents in the form of a lower mill rate. These are funds that were never sought by his predecessor.

He has also streamlined processes, reduced wait times and redesigned his department’s web pages to provide more information to residents.

Howard is committed to making sure that anyone who calls him or stops in the office, has a positive experience. I remember an old saying, “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Howard loves his job and his record shows it.

When he was elected, he vowed to clean up the mess in the Tax Collector’s office and he delivered.

Please join me in enthusiastically re-electing him.

Laura Kostin is a Cos Cob resident.
